Going Green, by going red, purple, and blue

"Going Green" is something that most people are familiar with. Recycling plastics, using a re-usable water bottle, turning off the lights when you aren't in the room have become well known practice in today's eco conscious world. You know...reduce, reuse, recycle.

But, did you know there are even more ways you can help the earth? What about the notion of buying jewelry fondly dubbed "garbage jewelry." UK designer Ann Ellis created an entire line based off of using pieces that were otherwise going to be thrown away. Her colorful pieces are made out of plastic bags, drinks cans, rags, salvaged metals and oddments, including vintage beads and small items or textiles of sentimental value.

Her items can be purchased through email at ann@annellis.co.uk. The downside, they have become popular and since each piece is made my hand and is unique they take a little while to create. Get on the waiting list and do something good for the environment.
